Italy will admit up to 165,850 foreign workers in 2027: 76,200 for non-seasonal employment, 89,000 for seasonal work in agriculture and tourism, and 650 for self-employment. The quotas are part of the 2026–2028 three-year plan and were announced in early October by the ministries of the Interior, Labour, Agriculture and Tourism.
Bangladesh is one of the 37 countries whose citizens can be hired under the decree, but it has no reserved quota: applications for Bangladeshi workers compete with those for other countries.
Key dates
- 23 October – 7 December 2026: pre-filling of applications on the Interior Ministry portal.
- 12 January 2027: submission for seasonal farm work.
- 9 February 2027: seasonal tourism work.
- 16 February 2027: non-seasonal employment.
- 18 February 2027: domestic and care work.
Who applies
The application is always filed by the employer in Italy, not by the worker. Once the immigration desk issues the work authorisation (nulla osta), the worker applies for a visa at the Italian Embassy in Dhaka.
Beware of brokers
In recent years thousands of applications for Bangladeshi workers were blocked because of forged documents; in October 2024 Italy suspended authorisations already issued pending fresh checks. No broker can guarantee a visa. Before paying anyone, check that the company really exists and be wary of anyone asking for thousands of euros for a “contract”.
