Eleven Italian small and medium-sized textile-technology companies arrived in Bangladesh on 6 July for a business mission in Dhaka and Chittagong, with presentations, B2B meetings and factory visits. The delegation was accompanied by officials from the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and ACIMIT, the association of Italian textile machinery manufacturers.
The numbers
According to regional trade commissioner Antonietta Baccanari, Italy exported about €71 million of textile machinery to Bangladesh in 2025. ACIMIT represents more than 300 companies that together export about €1.7 billion a year.
Companies and partners
Participants were Color Services, Corino Macchine, Danti Paolo, Durst, L.A.I.P., Lawer, Pinter Caipo, Reggiani Macchine, Salvadè, Tecnorama and Ugolini. Bangladeshi partners included the garment and textile industry associations BGMEA, BTMA and BKMEA and the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce.
Ambassador Antonio Alessandro noted that Italian companies “have contributed to the birth and development of the Bangladesh textile industry” and now aim to supply technology for sustainability and logistics.
Why it matters
Textiles are the heart of Bangladesh’s economy and one of its strongest links with Italy. For many Bangladeshis in Italy — entrepreneurs, technicians, traders — they are also a source of work between the two countries.
